Wow, life has been coming at me at warp speed lately!
I had a big tax test due today, which I didn't have enough time to finish, mostly due to my life running at warp speed :P
Last Wednesday I went to the NDSU Career Fair, and lo and behold I found the recruiter for Eide Bailly. Now, a friend at work has been pulling some strings to get me into Eide Bailly, but they haven't been able to find the application! So I turn in a couple resumes (2 sides to Eide Bailly - Accounting and Technology), and now they sent me a new paper application and I have an interview this Thursday! Did I mention that one of the recruiters interviewed me (twice) and hired me at SEI when I worked there?
2 job fairs this past week, 1 the week before, and I gave out 20 resumes. When I tell people that, the first thing they say is "Why didn't you hand out more? That's the best you could do??" - but I thought it was pretty good. Especially considering I talked to more than 20 employers, and now I need to follow up with most of them (i.e. applying online...)
Are job fairs a thing of the past? Almost every employer I talked to said "I'll take your resume, but go apply online now, here's an informational brochure on how to do that." The government jobs were handing out websites that aren't available on the public website, and other companys were asking us to enter special codes so they can track them easier. Why not just plop all these codes and links in an e-mail, send it to all students - BAM, job fair over!
I REALLY want to get into Mayo Clinic in Rochester too... And if I get this Eide Bailly job it'd be in Bloomington... so perhaps living halfway between wouldn't be the worst idea in the world? For in case the tides change in the future... (that and I refuse to live in the heart of the metro, and houses are too expensive there anyway)
